Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Maude Mattice and brother, Harold Allen Mattice.

Survivors include: One son: Robert Allen Mattice Sr and wife Rosemary Mattice of Castroville, Texas. One daughter: Cynthia Lea Church and husband Richard Church of Ridgway, Colorado. Three grandchildren: Robert Allen Mattice Jr and wife Becky Mattice, Amy Marie Heilhecker and husband John Heilhecker and Zachary David King and wife Shauna King. Three great-grandchildren: Lily Rose and Johnathan Noah Heilhecker and Robert Allen Mattice III.

Vernon was born in Hagerman Valley, Idaho October 26, 1923. He spent the majority of his childhood living in mining towns in Utah and Nevada and farming communities in Idaho. He graduated from Bingham High School in 1942 in Lark, Utah. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1943 and completed flight training in B-25, B-17 and B-29 bombers. He was discharged in 1945. He married Juanita Crum Mattice on February 8, 1948. He worked for Carlton Florey Grocery, Southwestern Drug and spent 32 years with Lone Star Company where he retired as Branch Manager. He loved to travel and spending time with his relatives. He spent many enjoyable hours fishing and playing golf at the cabin in Colorado. His support and kindness will never be forgotten.
