Mike "Batman" Phillips

"Batman Mike" Phillips,65, of Amarillo, passed from this life on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 am Thursday, April 25, 2019 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter Road.

Mike was born on April 22, 1953 in Amarillo to Conny Gene and Fae Olivia (Doggette) Phillips. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He married the love of his life, Gayle Beal on March 17, 1978. Batmanworked as head painter at Northwest Texas Hospital. He enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing and traveling. He and Gayle loved to take cruises together. Recently he started playing golf and had mastered the game. He was a man that loved life and lived life to the fullest. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Conny Phillips, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Gayle Phillips; his mother, Fae Olivia Hayes; a son Ty Phillips and wife Lisa; a step son, Chris McNatt and wife Garlene; two brothers, Ronnie Phillips and Troy Hayes and wife Melanie; two step brothers, Robert Phillips and Steve Phillips; a step sister, Lana Gilmore; two grand children, Aaron Phillips and Eleanor Phillips; three step grandchildren, Ja Ochoa, Crystal Bartley and Stormie McNatt; an aunt, Lydia Grey; step mother Liz Evans; brother in law, David Beal; sister in law, Debbie Green; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of close friends.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 starting at 9:00 am with family receiving guests from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
