Mary Elizabeth (Hyde) Williams

June 14, 1944 — December 17, 2021

Mary Elizabeth Williams passed away suddenly on December 17, 2021 in Durango, Colorado. She was with her loving family.

A proud, lifelong Texan, Mary was born on June 14, 1944, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Dixie and Curtis Doyle Hyde. She graduated from Permian High School, earned an Associate’s Degree with honors from Amarillo College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business from West Texas State University.  She was married to the love of her life, Larry Si Williams, for 23 years until his death, and they raised two children together.

An accomplished homemaker, Mary was renowned for her impeccable taste, style, and love of decorating.  Her prized collection of Terri Lee dolls was rivaled only by the love she had for her family and traveling. As fascinating as she was beautiful, her interests also included owning a bike shop in Amarillo, Texas and caring for a variety of animals in need over the years including dogs, cats, and rabbits.  She recently became a great-grandmother and was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren and infant great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Kenneth Hyde.  She is survived by her children - Samuel (Tate) Williams and wife, Sheri; and Laura Williams; her grandchildren - Ryan Williams and son Asher Tate Williams; Taylor DellAntonio and wife, Laura and twins Samuel Joseph and Poppy Louise Lynn; Amanda Langston; and Colton Williams.

A private family ceremony and interment will be held on January 8, 2022.  There will be no public viewing.  Friends and loved ones are invited to send their condolences and tributes to LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw funeral home in Amarillo.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary’s honor to the West Texas A&M Alumni Association.
