Ismael Orta, 58, of Amarillo, Texas passed away September 14, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones in his home.

Ismael was born in Dimmitt, Texas to Orencio and Irene Orta on May 2, 1962. He was a dedicated Marine and was very proud to serve his country. He also worked as a painter and sand blaster for many of the water towers not only the surrounding areas but in other states as well.

He was a very loving and devoted father and grandfather. His children were his pride and joy and his grandchildren knew him as “hey, popo, what’s up” rather than grandfather due to his bright and funny personality. He was a very “happy, go lucky” person but, stern when need be. His hobbies included making jewelry, listening to Metallica and caring for children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orencio and Irene Orta; his brothers, Juan Orta, Pablo Orta, and Ricardo Orta.

Ismael is survived by his wife, Sara Gonzales of Amarillo, TX; his sons, Stephen P. Alonzo of Colorado, Michael J. Orta of Amarillo, TX, Alex I. Orta of Amarillo, TX; his daughter, Maria L. Orta of Amarillo, TX; his brother, Noe Orta and his wife Maggie of Hereford, TX; his sisters, Martha Ainsley of Amarillo, TX, Rosario o. Rivera and her husband Rick of Odessa, TX; his ten grandchildren, Nehemiah, Isiah, Zariah, Maira, Ezra, Janessa, Saage, Apollo Sitting Eagle, Sera (Izzy), Elijiah, and numerous nieces and nephews.
