Doyle William Mobley was born March 26, 1937 in Princeton, Indiana and passed away July 26, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Mobley of the home, one sister Sandra Kay Martinez and husband Ernie of Denver, Colorado, and eight children: Charlie Mobley and wife Melanie of Borger, Texas; Mark Mobley of Gilmer, Texas; Tina Thorburn of Ava, Missouri; Pamela Ann Anderson of Amarillo; Christopher Ladue and wife Michele of Amarillo; Jan Pardon of Amarillo; William Viles and wife Stephanie of Borger, Texas; and Amy Dawn Larkan, daughter by choice and her husband Danny Joe, of Amarillo. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Doyle's schooling began in Pampa, and he attended high school in Borger before enlisting in the Army in 1954. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1957.
Doyle's career as a diesel engine mechanic began in Pampa where he worked for his grandfather at Mobley's Industrial Engine. Upon his return to the Texas panhandle after the Army, he worked in the oilfield several years before returning to his career as a diesel engine mechanic. He worked for Cummins in Oklahoma City, and Panhandle White and Warren Cat in Amarillo. He retired from Caterpillar Corporation in 2002.
Doyle was a member of Prairie View Baptist Church in Amarillo. During his years there, he was a strong influence in the lives of the children and teens with whom he shared his love of the Lord.
