Bobby Alvin (Bob) Rutledge, 74, of Amarillo passed from this life on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.
Bob was born on December 12, 1943 to Alvin and Dorothy Rutledge. Bob graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1962 and worked for Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. Bob married the love of his life, Penny in 1982 and together they enjoyed attending and competing in bbq and chili cookoffs, restoring old cars and Cushman motor scooters and traveling with their RV’s. Bob was passionate about the history of Amarillo and enjoyed talking with others about Amarillo’s past.
Bob is survived by his wife, Penny of the home, a sister, Betty Walker and husband James of Amarillo, daughter Lynette Sims and husband Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada, son Bobby Rutledge and wife Amber of Redding, California, daughter Kathy Jones and husband Billy of Amarillo, daughter Annette Rude of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, son George Paylor and wife Kim of Arlington, Texas, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara (Sissy) Antel.
