Adela "Della" Gomez

Della M. Gomez, age 90 of Amarillo died on November 6, 2020.

Della was born July 16, 1930, in Anton Chico, New Mexico to Eduardo and Cleotilde Sisneros.  Della married the love of her life, Ralph A. Gomez on April 10, 1948.


Della was employed by Grace Whittenburg for fifteen years where she retired with her.  Della enjoyed going to church, singing, and volunteering her time. One of her favorite songs was Mas Alla del sol. She was an active member of Bethel Iglesia with Reverend De Los Santos. She enjoyed gardening, baking the best cream pies, cooking New Mexico red chili enchiladas and crispy tacos.  She also enjoyed camping, waterskiing, dancing, and gathering with family and friends with the love of her life.  She always started her mornings reading her Bible, listening to Reverend Billy Graham and Pastor Adrian Rodgers. She loved the Lord and was a great prayer warrior.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Gomez, her parents, Eduardo and Cleotilde Sisneros, her daughters Bonnie and Christine, and her brothers, Alfonso, Willie, and Ralph.

Della is survived by her two sons, George and Willie Gomez, her daughter Mary Lou Darnell and her husband Johnny all of Amarillo; three brothers Tony, Tito, and Felix Sisneros and one sister Mary Turner all of Amarillo; five grandchildren JoAnn Gomez of Carlsbad, California; Josette Solis and her husband Steve, Tiffany Rowland and her husband Curtis of Mansfield, Texas, Adria Gomez and Willie Jimenez and his wife Natasha; ten great-grandchildren, Damien Rodriguez of Los Angeles, California, Christian Gomez of Mansfield, Texas, Savannah Solis, Isaiah Gomez, Desiree Murillo, Daniel West, Olivia West, Willie Jimenez Jr., Julien Jimenez all of Amarillo and Aiden Flores of Carlsbad, California; two great-great-grandchildren, Austin Gomez and Ariana West and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

The family suggests memorials be made to Amarillo Skilled Nursing Home at 6601 Amarillo Boulevard in lieu of flowers.
