Walter Lynn Smith, 63, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026. No services will be held at this time.
Walter was born on July 23, 1962, in Amarillo, Texas, to Walter Vorland Smith and Anna Jean Patton. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and went on to dedicate 32 years of service to BNSF Railway, where he served as a supervisor. Walter took great pride in his work and genuinely enjoyed his career until his retirement.
In his free time, Walter found great joy in playing pool and was an active member of a local pool league for many years. He also had a passion for collecting model trains of all kinds, as well as M&M candy dispensers. Walter deeply loved his two dogs, affectionately referring to them as his “furry children.” Above all, he was a devoted son who took great pride in caring for his mother, ensuring she was lovingly looked after in her final years.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his Uncle RJ and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors left to cherish Walter’s memory are his brothers, Arthur Smith, Perry Smith, Gayno Smith and John Smith; his sister, Valerie Hamilton and several nieces and nephews.
