Tom Wilkins, 92, a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of God, entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center Hospice Unit in Amarillo, surrounded by the love of his family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 12, at 10 a.m. at Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, under the direction of LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Tom was born September 29, 1934, in San Angelo, Texas, to Tyrus Bell and Dorothy Mae Wilkins. He proudly served his country in the United States Army beginning in 1957.
A blind date introduced Tom to the love of his life, Paula, beginning a marriage that would span nearly 69 years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.
Tom and Paula made their home in Wellington, Texas, where they raised their daughters, Penny and Julie. A man of many talents and a strong work ethic, Tom worked alongside his parents at Tom’s Red Top Cafe, owned Wilkins Furniture Store with his mother, and worked as a home builder and owner of Happy Homes Real Estate. He also faithfully served his community as a Wellington city councilman.
Above all, Tom’s greatest devotion was to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He served as youth minister and song director at First Baptist Church in Wellington, taught Sunday School, and spent countless Saturday evenings sharing his faith through church visitation. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Tom was a member of the Lighthouse Quartet, which performed on local television, and was often called upon to sing at weddings and funerals, including the wedding of his granddaughter, Macy.
In the mid-1990s, Tom and Paula moved to Abilene, where he continued his career in real estate and home building. They later settled in Amarillo to be closer to their children and grandchildren, enjoying many wonderful years together. Tom and Paula remained faithful members of Coulter Road Baptist Church.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, hard work, service to others, and deep love for his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Penny Davis and husband Jerry of Wellington, and Julie Reel and husband James of Bushland; grandchildren Macy Markham and husband Topper of Carrollton, Cassidy Davis and Kristen Tyree of Durham, North Carolina, Jalee Davis of Aurora, Colorado, Jaren Thomas Alvarado and wife Meagan of Amarillo, Hunter Reel and wife Alex of Tennessee, Shiloh Reel of Dallas, and Rhett Reel of Lubbock; and great-grandson Jace Thomas Markham of Carrollton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Paula; his parents, Tyrus Bell and Dorothy Mae Wilkins; brothers Glen, Bud, Lloyd, and Pat Wilkins; sister Eva Mae Cason; and precious twin great-grandsons, Javen Wayne and Jaxen James Alvarado
