Steve Cosby Sharp

Steve C. Sharp, 78 of Panhandle, passed peacefully from this life on Jan. 29, 2024 at home surrounded by family.

He was born in Chillicothe, Texas, in 1945 to Pearl and Ted Sharp where he was the youngest of six children. When in 8th grade, in 1958, he and his family moved to Panhandle. In High School he met the love of his life, Syreta Jean Lowe and married in 1965 at the Panhandle Church of Christ where he later served as a deacon, then an elder, and remaining members there to this day. They have four children, Wendy, Angela, Joel and Misty, all of whom were raised in the Panhandle community. He was a prominent member of the community and worked as a farmer for John Dale Kelly for 24 years, then went on to work for Robinson Grain Elevator as a maintenance supervisor for 25 years. He enjoyed using his known skills to help others and spending time with friends and family.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Gail, and a brother Royce.

He is survived by his wife, Syreta; his daughters, Wendy and husband Bill, Angela and husband Keith, Misty and husband Kory; a son, Joel and wife Tabitha; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne, Bill, and Gene.

A memorial service in his honor will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Panhandle Church of Christ.
