In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Abshire (Weinberg) November 2, 1940 – October 4, 2026
Shirley Ann Abshire (Weinberg), a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at 2:00 a.m., at the age of 85. She lived a full life marked by strength, determination, and a fierce devotion to her family.
Born in Chicago on November 2, 1940, to Morris and Bessie, Shirley spent her early years in the city, where she worked in a card factory. In her younger days, she was an avid walker who would walk everywhere. She later relocated to Chickasha, where she married Bobby and together they built a home.
Shirley enjoyed shopping, playing bingo, getting her nails done, and volunteering with children. These activities brought her joy, and volunteering gave her an opportunity to share her time with others.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby, and her son, Donald. She is survived by her children, Cheri (Wayne), Jerry, Phillip (Misty), and David.
Her memory lives on through her grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Christopher, Thomas, Morgan (Cutter), Bryson (Odalys), and Kennedy, and her great-grandchildren, Lennyx and Cohen.
We also remember Shirley’s sister, Lillian, and the cousins and extended family who are part of her life’s story.
Shirley was strong-willed and lived life in her own way. Family was most important to her, and she was fiercely protective of her children. As her son Jerry said, she “would fight a bear for her children”—words that capture her strength and the determination she carried throughout her life.
Shirley’s life held many chapters, each a part of the woman we remember and the family story we carry forward. We honor her strength, mourn her passing, and hold close the moments that were ours.
May her strength live on in the generations who follow her, and may her courage be their enduring inheritance.
May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in peace.
