Richard Shirk, 86, of Lancaster, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The family will have a celebration of life at 10am, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road chapel.
Richard graduated from Amarillo High School in 1957. He was a skilled Automotive and Small Engine Technician and proudly owned and operated Taylor Sales & Service for 27 years. His strong work ethic and dedication to helping others defined his career and life.
Richard was an active member of his church and found great joy in working with both children and adults. After retiring, he spent 27 wonderful years enjoying Southern Gospel music, traveling, and living in New Mexico and Arizona, where he participated in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse, before eventually returning home to Texas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Irene Ruth Shirk. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bishop of Red Oak, Texas; his three sisters, Dee Thompson, Bobbie Vernie Lee Casey, and Tiny Clark; his son, David and wife Darla; his daughter, Sally, of Lancaster, Texas; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
