Richard “Barney” Glenn Griffin, 58, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on September 13, 2025. Memorial services are scheduled for 2pm, Friday, September 19, 2025, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road chapel.

Richard was born on May 21, 1967, to Stephen Griffin and Frances Hood in Groom, Texas. He earned his GED through Job Corps in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and went on to spend four years working with computers. For more than 20 years, Richard was a familiar face at the Cattlemen’s Club in Amarillo, where he worked as a bartender and ran the pool club. From a young age, Richard had a gift for taking things apart and skillfully putting them back together. His creativity and love for working with his hands showed in his many hobbies, including drawing, yarn work, etching, and macramé. He also enjoyed tending to his yard and was surprisingly talented on roller skates. Richard will be remembered for his sharp wit and playful sense of humor. He had a knack for making people laugh, rarely took life too seriously, and was lovingly known as a bit of a smart aleck. He deeply loved his friends and his dogs, and he cherished the friendly sparring matches with his brother, Robert.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Richard Griffin; his Pop, Garland W. Fox and his sister, Frances Elaine Steen.

Survivors left to cherish Richard’s memory are is Mother, Frances Fox; his brothers, Robert Griffin and Chad Fox and his sisters, Stephney Bennett and Tina Turner.

Richard will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know and love him.
