Raymond Louis Sanders

Raymond Louis Sanders passed away in the early morning hours of April 19, 2023.  Ray was born on May 9, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph R Sanders and Elsie Richter, one of 4 children.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in May of 1949 and was stationed in San Antonio, TX, Cheyenne, WY and Amarillo, TX.  Ray was a Supply Sargent.

He met his future wife while dragging Polk Street in 1950.  Joan wrote a note of that meeting in their Wedding Book, on an October afternoon, she was driving down Polk St. waiting for her mother.  They drove along side by side for several blocks chatting.  Several days later he reappeared in her life, and they were married on May 6, 1952.  They were married 59 years. From that union, there are 4 children, Teri, Debi, Vicki and Mike.

Joan predeceased him on October 29, 2011.

Survivors are Teri Sanders of Amarillo, Debi and Richard Glasscock of Bushland, Vicki and Mike Lewis of Fort Worth and Mike and Tina Sanders of Amarillo.  Two Grandchildren, Devin Lewis of Waterford, MI, and Chance Provence of Amarillo.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Groom.
