Narcisa Reyna Hernandez, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Mexico to Petra and Marcial Reyna. She was married to Guadalupe M. Hernandez for 68 years and together they raised their six children in Amarillo, Texas. She and her late husband were very active parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Amarillo for 52 years. During that time, she was also a member of the Guadalupanas and a Curcillista.
Narcisa loved cooking and baking for people around her and turned that passion into purpose. She had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and in 1986, she opened Narcisa’s Mexican Restaurant in Amarillo, where it became a beloved spot known for its authentic Mexican food.
Narcisa spent most of her life cooking for her family as often as she could. She was a highly skilled seamstress, a love she passed down through generations. She was generous and selfless, putting others’ needs above her own right up until her final days.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe M. Hernandez. She is survived by her children: Esther Gonzalez; Lupe and her husband, Cliff Artz; Richard Hernandez and his fiancée, Eloisa Soriano; Margaret and her husband, Richard Harper; Luis and his wife, Pam Hernandez; and Elizabeth and her husband, Rick Cazares. She is also survived by 5 generations of grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Rosary will be held Thursday, August 20, at 6:00 p.m. at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw – Coulter, 8310 S. Coulter Street, Amarillo, TX 79119.
