Monte Sandlin, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on July 17, 2026. He was born to Pat and Clois Sandlin on November 13, 1954 in Amarillo and grew up in Yuma, Arizona. Monte attended Yuma High School, where he played football. After graduation, he worked in the auto parts industry until he married his wife Peggy on September 8, 1984 and moved to Amarillo. He worked in the auto parts industry for a while and then for G. E. Jones Electric for 23 years and for Texas Bearing for several years after that, where he retired in December 2024. Monte enjoyed watching baseball, going on fun vacations in several states, and short road trips with no destination in mind.
Monte is predeceased by his son Brent Sandlin, his mother and father Pat and Clois Sandlin and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Ben and Charlotte Hess.
Monte is survived by his wife of 41 years, Peggy; his two sisters, Kathy Sandlin and Lisa Sandlin of Yuma, Arizona; his aunt, Toby Sandlin of Mesa, Arizona; his uncle Bob Monk of Abilene, Texas; his brother-in-law Rodney Hess, sister-in-law Barbara Hess and niece Bailey Hess, all of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Panhandle or a favorite charity.
