Melba (Smalley) Tate

Melba Tate, 93 of Amarillo passed from this life Saturday, December 31, 2022.

Melba was born June 22, 1929 in Muncy, Texas to Doyce and Jewell Smalley.  On February 21, 1948 she married Kenneth Tate in Floydada, Texas.  In 1956 they moved to Silverton, Texas where she became a member of the First Baptist Church.  She loved her church and was a member of the choir, often singing solos with her beautiful voice.

Melba is survived by her brother Joe Smalley of Lubbock, Tx, a son Mike Tate and wife Tess of Garland, TX, two daughters, Gayla Nelson and husband John of Bella Vista AR, and Thresa Atkins and husband James of Amarillo.  Five grandchildren, nine great grand children and 4 great-great children.
