“I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” -2 Timothy 4:7

With heartfelt sorrow and unwavering faith in God’s eternal promises, our beloved Kelly David Grant, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, at the age of 57 in Amarillo, Tx.

Kelly was born on June 15th, 1968 in Plainview, TX, to Bill and Joyce Grant. He grew up in Amarillo, TX and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1986. He was employed by J. Lee Milligan doing construction work for 5 years. He gave his life to Christ in 2016 and remained a faithful servant throughout the years. He was baptized in 2024 and consistently attended Trinity Fellowship Church and Arena of Life Church.

Kelly spent many of his younger years growing up with a glove in his hand on the ballfield. He spent countless hours playing baseball with his two brothers and cousins until the sun went down. Those young years of playing baseball together helped to shape his love for the game. As he grew into his young adult years, that love for baseball grew into a love for softball. Kelly spent many years on the softball field playing in club teams and church leagues with his family and friends, which formed deep bonds that lasted a lifetime. His love for the game didn’t end on the field. He passed that same passion on down to his daughters, teaching them not only how to play the game well, but how to play it with heart, courage, and joy. It was one of his greatest joys to see his love for the game reflected in them.

Kelly was known for his hobby of craftsmanship and refurbishing old furniture. With skillful hands, he would restore old and scratched tables, chairs, cabinets, and even bedroom furniture into beautiful and functional furniture. He took his time and was very patient by perfecting each detail.

To say Kelly had a passion for sports would be an understatement. He was an extremely devoted and loyal fan of the New York Yankees, University of Texas Longhorns, and the Dallas Cowboys- although he was not particularly fond of the last few years with the Cowboys. He was known for watching re-runs during the offseason. Learned from his Grandad at an early age, Kelly found much love in casting lines out on the water. His happiest moments were teaching his two girls and all his grandkids the game of fishing. His heart swelled with immense pride knowing that his daughters could bait their own hooks and would confidently take their fish off the line on their own.

More than all his hobbies, Kelly adored being a Grandparent named- Papa. He was their playmate, a storyteller, and often a partner in mischief. Whether it was front yard adventures of playing baseball with the kids or playing with Snapchat filters, he always brought fun wherever he went. He often made his two daughters laugh by creating silly/sometimes weird nicknames with all the kids. His love for all of them was endless and expressed in every laugh, every hug, and every moment that he spent with each one of them.

Kelly leaves behind a legacy of faith and love and will be missed by all who know him. He is survived by his two daughters; Micah Helton and husband Nick of Amarillo, Tx, and Ashley Grant Watts of Amarillo, Tx; nine grandchildren- Zoey, Brookelynn, Aiden, Grayson, Kendall, Matthew, Brent, Brylie, and Emma; his two siblings- Kenny Grant and wife Suzanne of Claude, Tx, and Randy Grant and wife Jennifer of Amarillo, Tx; and many loving Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Great Nephews, and Cousins.

He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Joyce and Bill Grant.
