Jerry Dean Martin, 83, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, in Portales, New Mexico. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday November 4, 2026, at 2pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.

Jerry was born on December 26, 1942, in Lubbock, Texas, to JD Martin and Juanita Wallace Hood. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he worked as a cook. In 1974, he married Barbara Smith, and together they shared 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2024.

Jerry spent many years working as a chef, sharing his talents through his love of cooking. He also enjoyed working with his hands and was especially talented at remodeling. He took pride in his work and enjoyed using his skills to create and improve things.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Martin and his mother, Juanita Pruitt.

Survivors left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lynne Nooner, of Clovis, New Mexico and his son, Jerry Martin Jr., of Knoxville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Jeffery Martin, Gregory Martin, Joshua Martin, Michael Armstrong and David Armstrong; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and one on the way.
