Jason Raymond Welch

Jason Raymond Welch, 53, of Amarillo, passed away peacefully at home with his longtime partner Stephanie by his side on June 8, 2025. Jason was born on August 3, 1971, in Amarillo, Texas.

He was a devoted partner, friend, colleague, animal lover, and a passionate enthusiast of aviation, history, and ancestry. Jason touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor, and steadfast loyalty.

He graduated from Amarillo Christian High School in 1990, where he developed lifelong friendships. Jason worked at Dillard’s and Diamond Shamrock before moving to Alabama, where he served as a safety officer at the airport. After returning to Amarillo, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for the past ten years. He will be dearly missed by his colleagues and the many residents on his mail route.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Edward Welch and Virginia Miller Welch, his grandparents, Joe and Nettie Miller, and Clydia Welch Souter.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Stephanie Fiala of Amarillo, Texas; and the family he loved as his own: Jourdan Vaught, her husband Brian, and their son Bodhi of New Braunfels, Texas; Ryan Fiala and her partner Justin Berg of Austin, Texas; Dennis and Pat Sparks of Tucumcari, New Mexico; and Claudia and Colin Welch of Alabama.

He is also survived by his brother, Jed Welch, and wife Dawn of Canyon, Texas; his sisters: Lanee and husband Billy Warrick of Water Valley, Texas; Brenda Davis and husband Randy of Hereford, Texas; and Suzette Michelle Scott of Amarillo, Texas. His aunts, Sybil Ogle and Juanita (Arnold) Beagle, both of Borger, Texas, also survive him. Jason leaves behind numerous nieces, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, and one nephew—all of whom held a special place in his heart.
