Janie Lee Welch

Janie Lee Welch passed away on May 23, 2023, at the age of 84 in Pearland, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel of Amarillo. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.

Janie was born July 15, 1938, in Memphis, Texas to Thomas “Lee” and Hazel Moore. The oldest of seven, Janie embraced her big sister role and always cared for her younger siblings. On September 20, 1958, Janie married the love of her life, Cecil James Welch. They shared more than 25 years together until his death in 1984.

Janie is survived by her only son, Cory Welch, his wife Kayla and grandsons Cooper and Kayden Welch, all of Pearland; also survived by her sisters Wanda Faye Davis of Lubbock and Judy Clark of Mangum, Oklahoma, brother Tommy Jo Moore of Phoenix, Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Linda Smith and brothers Robert and William “Sonny” Moore.
