Amarillo

Irma Garcia, 69, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on March 27, 2026. Funeral services are scheduled for 2pm, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road chapel.

Irma was born on November 7, 1956, to Candelario Gutierrez and Ramona Duarte Miramontes. She later moved from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Hereford, Texas. On April 15, 1979, Irma married Moises Garcia, and together they shared 35 loving years of marriage until his passing in 2014. In 1983, they moved to Amarillo to build their home and raise their family.

Irma and Moises worked side by side throughout their lives, building and operating three businesses together: Garcia Construction, Lil Taco House, and Three Amigos. Irma handled the bookkeeping for their businesses and worked diligently alongside her husband. With his loving support, she later graduated from Amarillo College. Irma was a devoted wife, mother, and true soulmate.

Irma was an exceptional cook who taught herself everything she knew in the kitchen. She also found great joy in flowers and gardening and had a remarkable green thumb, able to grow just about anything. Irma enjoyed building and fixing things and was known for being able to repair almost anything. She loved animals, especially chickens, ducks, dogs, and her fish. She also enjoyed singing and listening to music.

During the last two years of her life, Irma spent much of her time traveling across the country with her son Dominique in his 18-wheeler, creating many special memories together. Though she endured cruel hardships earlier in life, Irma considered herself truly blessed and was deeply grateful for the life she was given.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Moises Garcia; her sister, Olga Gutierrez Duarte; her brothers, Gerado Gutierrez Duarte, Israel Gutierrez Duarte and Roberto Gutierrez Duarte and her cousin, Francisco Salinas “Kiko”.

Survivors left to cherish Irma’s memory are her children, Crystal A. Garcia and Dominique Garcia and her siblings, Elva, Raul, Anastacio, Roberto and Alaida.
