Obituary

Henry Holdman passed away on July 17, 2026 in Amarillo, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Henry was born on August 2, 1939 to Davis and Edna Holdman in El Paso, TX. He grew up in Fabens, TX on the family pecan farm and graduated from Fabens High School. He then went on to attend and graduate from West Texas A & M University in Canyon, TX with a degree in Agriculture/Animal Health. Henry served in the US Army before beginning his professional career.

Henry married Rita Welty at the WT Chapel on August 16, 1963 and throughout the nature of Henry’s professional career made their family home at several stops along the way to settle in Amarillo, TX. Henry and Rita were blessed with two children. Henry was a devout Catholic and member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo. He spent several years with the Eli Lilly Company’s animal health division of Elanco, becoming very well known throughout the cattle industry. After retiring from Elanco, Henry worked for HiPro’s animal health division while also maintaining his own feedlot tour business.

Henry (also known as Pap) loved attending the many sporting events and activities of his children and grandchildren throughout the years and his passion was definitely his family; he loved and adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always wanting to be with them or to make sure that pictures were sent daily. Henry’s other passion was golf, spending many hours practicing and playing the game with friends and family. Henry was a long-time member of Amarillo Country Club.

Henry is survived by his wife Rita of Amarillo; son Tino of Amarillo; daughter Jalie Hill (Rodney) of Amarillo; His 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Jowell Holdman, Callie Hill, Reagan Hill (Lilly) and sons Rhett, Asher and Brooks, Renick Hill (Makaylee) and daughters Hattie Mae, Sophie and Sadie. Also survived by Sister, Marie Glaser (Jimmy); Sister, Susie Lovelady (Bill +); Sister, Cecilia Ayers (Bill); Brother, Perry Holdman (Carolyn+) and many nieces and nephews. Henry was preceded in death by his mother and father (Davis and Edna Holdman) and his brother Davis Lee Holdman. Henry never met a stranger and had so many friends along the way that never spoke a bad word about him. We can all know that he is now at Peace with our Lord.
