Memorial service will be 3:00PM Saturday September 14, 2013 in the chapel of St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4600 S. Bell. Street. Amarillo, Texas

Gene was born in Galax, VA. on 1-22-25 to John and Elsie Salmons. Gene moved to Amarillo in the 1930’s and later attended Amarillo College. She married Arthur C. Smith, Jr. in 1946 at Polk Street Methodist Church. She and Art loved dancing to swing band music at the Natatorium. After 28 years as the wife of an Air Force Officer, she and Arthur moved back to Amarillo after his retirement. They were both active members of Polk Street United Methodist and St. Stephens United Churches both of Amarillo. Gene was an avid reader, played the piano and knitted and crocheted. She was a sweet and wonderful Mother who will be dearly missed. Her husband Arthur preceded her in death in 2010.
Survivors include her three children, David Smith of Albq. two grandchildren, Evan and Sommer Smith, Mark Smith and his wife Lisa of Lubbock and Penny Scott and her husband Jonathan of Canyon Lake, Texas
