Frances Mabelle Mudgett

Frances “Penny” Mudgett, 90, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020.  She was born on June 24, 1930 in Roy, NM to the late Frank and Faye Stapleton.  She was married to Dale Mudgett who preceded her in death in 2012.  Frances worked as a Meter Maid for the Dalhart Police Department and was a member of Grace Church in Amarillo and a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.  She loved playing Bunko and was involved with the Ronald McDonald House for many years.  She and Dale were very active in square dancing for many years.

She is survived by one son, Thomas E. “Duffy” Davis, III and wife Kathy of Amarillo; five daughters, Sandra Bridgeman of Amarillo, Susie Davis of Amarillo, Sally Davis of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Sidonna Latham and husband Casey of Casper, Wyoming and Samantha Woodson and husband Kermit of Amarillo; son-in-law, Bud Nelson of Tucumcari, NM; sister, Nina Strong of Raton, NM; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Mudgett and one daughter, Sharon Nelson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2020 at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home on Coulter Road.  Memorial Service will be 11:30 AM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Grace Church in Amarillo.

Serving as pallbearers will be Willie Bridgeman, Thomas E. Davis, IV, David Davis, Charles Davis, Owen Asher, Winston Gilmore, Quanah Gilmore, Ty Clark, Ryder Woodson, Kermit Woodson and Michael Lard.  Honorary pallbearers will be William Shortell, Casey Latham and Bud Nelson.
