Frances Lee Cook

Frances Lee Bell Cook was born March 8, 1930, in Beaver, Oklahoma, to Ollie and Julia (Ondracek) Bell.  She went to eternal rest on July 25, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 91 years old.

She grew up in San Angelo, Texas and Booker, Texas.  She graduated from Booker High School in 1948.

Frances married Roy Robert Cook on September 11, 1949.  To this union were born four children; Larry Robert, Gary Clinton, Stacy Lee and Irvin Craig.

Frances worked in banking in Booker, Texas and Keyes, Oklahoma.  She retired in 1981.  She and Roy moved to Martindale, Texas in 1982.  They moved to Amarillo, in 2000.

Frances volunteered at the hospital in San Marcos and Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.  She made many close friends during this time.

She loved reading, sewing and traveling.  She and Roy traveled all over the U.S.  One of their favorite trips was a road trip to Alaska.

Genealogy was a major love for Frances and Roy.  They made many trips around the country to complete their genealogy histories.  As a lover of history, it was a major accomplishment for her to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Frances is survived by her sons, Bob and wife, Brenda of Pueblo, Colorado; Gary and wife, Jana of Jenks, Oklahoma; and Craig and wife, Laura of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren, Bill Cook, Courtney Miller, Amanda Salazar, Braden Cook, Blake Cook and Brittani Estrada along with twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Roy; her parents, one daughter, Stacy, a sister, Eva, and a great grandson, Creede.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.at Saint Stephens United Methodist Church located at 4600 S. Western Street in Amarillo, Texas.
