Durwood "Pete" Don Rosser

February 10, 1946 — June 9, 2023

Durwood "Pete" Rosser was born in Temple, Texas to Margaret Riddle and Bill Rosser on February 10th, 1946, and passed away on June 9th, 2023.  Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 14th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw, with Rick Lopez officiating.  Military Honors will be provided by Volley for Veterans.  A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw, 8310 South Coulter Road.

Pete graduated from Midland High School in 1964.  He served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1971.  He was a radioman in the rivers of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.  Pete was a "River Rat" in the Brown Water Navy where his heroism earned him accommodations and medals including: The Purple Heart Medal with 2 Gold Stars, National Defense Service Medal (First Award), and the Navy Achievement Medal.

After proudly serving his country, he continued with communications and was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone and retired after thirty-one years.  He made many life-long friends while working there, but none more important than the love of his life, Judy.  Pete and Judy were married on November 5th, 1983, and have a love like no other.

An avid outdoorsman, Pete loved hunting, fishing, and raising longhorn cattle.  In 2001, Pete followed his passion and became a hunting and fishing guide in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado.  He was a member of the Randall County Emergency Service Unit, and provided support for the Randall County Sheriff's Department.  Pete was also an active member of:  Hope Lives Here, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and the Purple Heart Chapter 553.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Rosser and brother Otho Rosser.  He is survived by his loving wife Judy of Canyon, two sons Trent and wife Sharon of Amarillo, Justin and wife Manda of Pampa, and daughter Tiffany Aaron of Amarillo, granddaughters Lexie and Taylen, honorary grandson Zackery Brown, grandson Laketon Harris, his best friend and service dog Bolt, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
