Doris Marie Faris, 96, of Amarillo, passed away on June 21. 2026.
Born on October 16, 1929, in Lorenzo, Texas, Doris was the beloved daughter of JD and Edith Smithee. She lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering kindness, and a profound devotion to her family. Her love and guidance shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving a legacy of compassion, strength, and faith that will continue for generations.
Doris dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and great-grandmother for many years and was known as the heart and center of her family. She created a home filled with love, encouragement, and cherished traditions, always making time to support and uplift those she loved. Outside of her family life, she enjoyed Bible studies, golf, and painting. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she shared it generously through her involvement in her church and community. Through her selfless love, warm spirit, and caring example, she touched countless lives and inspired others to live with grace and kindness.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Royo and Diane Saied, her son, Bud E. Faris; her grandchildren, Alexis Higgins, Monica Moore, Matthew Saied, Marissa Faris, Kara Faris, Keegan Faris and Kristin Crowley; her great-grandchildren, Caleb Higgins, Carley Higgins, Sadie Moore, Charlie Gruver Faris, Arlo Hunt Faris, Kynley Faris, Konrad Faris, Brynlie Whiting and her step great-grandchildren, Noah Williams and Vivien Hunt.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, CE “Bud” Faris; her parents, JD and Edith Smithee; her sister, Shirley Wright; her daughter in law, Teresa Faris and her son in law, Carlos Royo.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Friday, June 26, 2026, at Saint Stephen Church of Amarillo.
Doris will be remembered for her love for family and friends, her steadfast faith, and the positive influence she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her favorite scriptures included Ephesians 4:29 and Philippians 4:8, verses that reflected the encouragement, wisdom, and grace she shared throughout her life.
