Sgt. Don Allen Manning was born July 7, 1941, to Robert and Eldora Manning in Amarillo, Texas. He married Annie Manning on May 6, 1971. Brother Manning was an active member of Great Mt Olive Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and taught Sunday school until his health began to decline.
Sgt. Manning served in the Army Reserves for 20 years. He obtained an associate degree in applied science from Amarillo College. He retired from the City of Amarillo as Maintenance Supervisor at Amarillo International Airport after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Markwell Lodge. He was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He enjoyed life and never met a stranger. Don was loved by everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Don Manning was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eldora Manning; his loving wife, Annie Manning; a daughter, Endress Manning; three brothers; a sister; a nephew; two great-nieces; and a grandson.
Don Manning leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Don Manning Jr., Curtis (Euridee) Manning, and Tyris (Cheryl) Manning; two daughters, Priscilla Manning and Trina Roberson; a niece, Jaqueline Manning-Simmons; nine grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
