Darlene Petty

Darlene Petty, 77, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Graveside services are scheduled for 10am, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Amarillo.

Darlene was born on September 8, 1948, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Henry Thomas and Fay Walker Ray.

She lived most of her life in Amarillo, where she worked for over 20 years as the Continuing Education Director at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. After her retirement, she moved to Logan, New Mexico to enjoy her love of the water at Ute Lake. As her health began to decline, she returned to Amarillo to be closer to her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son, Mark Petty and wife, Lori; her grandson, Tyler Petty and wife, Kinszy; her four great grandchildren, Parker, Preston, Vann and Millie, all of Amarillo. She is also survived by her sister, Denise Kelly and husband, Wayne, of Amarillo.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made to the Alzheimers Association of Amarillo in Darlenes memory.
