Darla Sue (Talley) Young

Darla Sue Young passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her Amarillo home on August 12, 2022.

Darla was born on November 23, 1953 to Bill and Ozella Talley in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Meadow High School in May of 1972, where she met the love of her life, Jerry Young. They were married on September 23, 1972.

She worked as a secretary at Central Church of Christ in Tulia, Texas. She was also a homemaker before and after her time at the Church of Christ.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her whole world. She loved getting in the pool to swim and play with all of the kids. Her favorite store was Hobby Lobby. She enjoyed sewing and other crafts, such as hand-making everyone's Christmas stockings. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. The decorations, family time, and celebrations of Jesus made it all so special to her.

Darla is survived by her spouse Jerry Young; Her four daughters, Sondra and husband Chad Glenn, Stacey and husband George Wall, Sabrina and husband Michael West, and Shauna and husband Wesley Fisher; Her two brothers, Scott and wife Linda Talley, and Kenny and wife Karen Talley. She had eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Darla is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Ozella Talley and her brother Randy Talley.

Pallbearers include Chad Glenn, George Wall, Michael West, Karston Jack, Kade Jack, Preston Steward, and Kolton West.

The visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. The funeral service will be Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 10:00 AM at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Talley and Pastor Trey Morgan.
