Claudine Lehman was born on September 23, 1937 in Amarillo, TX, to Claude and Lois Curb. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1956, she attended the University of North Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1961 with a concentration in Voice and Piano. While attending North Texas, she became a member of Sigma Alpha Lota, a professional music sorority. During her time at the University of North Texas, she sang with the State Fair Musicals in Dallas for 3 summers and was also a paid soloist for several churches in Dallas and Fort Worth. After graduation, she taught music in Dalhart and Panhandle, TX. Claudine later received her Kindergarten Certification from West Texas A&M University in 1979 and taught Kindergarten in Hereford, where she retired from teaching in 1992.
Music was always a passion for Claudine. She was a member of Sweet Adelines International and loved going to competitions every year. She sang with the 1st United Methodist Church choir in Canyon for many years, and after moving to Amarillo, sang with Celebration Singers and Stars choirs at St Stephen Methodist Church, where she was also an active member of Covenant Sunday School class.
Claudine was a devoted mother to her two children, Brian and Denise. She was a cub scout leader, girl scout leader, Sunday school teacher and full-time stay-at-home mom. She was always active in everything her children were involved in before going back to school in 1979 to start her second act as a Kindergarten teacher.
Claudine married Olan Lehman on December 27, 1969 and built a life together in Canyon, TX. They were 1 month away from their 50th wedding anniversary when Olan passed away in November 2019. They enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in their retirement before his passing.
Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Claude Curb; her husband Olan, twin daughters, Michelle and Leslie; 2 sisters Lois Jean Cupell and Della Mae Hales, grandson-in-law, Travis Garrett and twin great-grandsons, Kade Michael Garrett and Kyler Scott Garrett. She is survived by her son Brian Lehman and daughter in law S’Quetta Lehman of Amarillo TX, daughter Denise Williams and son in law Stephen Williams of Taos, NM, granddaughters Hylie Garrett of Canyon, TX, Sierra Hewitt, and Stormy Davis of Amarillo, TX, grandsons Cory Davis of Amarillo, TX and Gage Lovett and his wife Mozelle Lovett of Cincinnati Ohio, great granddaughters Brooklyn and Brytton Garrett of Canyon TX, and Adalynn Davis of Amarillo TX, and great grandson Sebastion Hewitt of Amarillo TX.
