Clarence Gilbert Mabbitt, 86, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. The family will have a visitation and gathering for friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5-7pm at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road chapel.
Clarence was born on October 19, 1939, to Roy Mabbitt and Harriet Jacoba in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He proudly served his country after enlisting in the United States Army, completing two years of honorable service. Clarence dedicated 30 years of his life working as a Foreman for IBP in Amarillo, where he was recognized with numerous awards for his commitment and strong work ethic before retiring. In 2009, he married Rosa Zepeda, and together they shared 17 loving years of marriage.
Clarence was a hardworking man who loved his family and children deeply and wholeheartedly. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time at the casino, trying his luck with the Texas Lottery, watching action movies (especially James Bond), and faithfully cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
He also enjoyed dancing to country music, particularly songs by George Strait and Willie Nelson. Some of his happiest moments were regular outings to Denny’s with family and cooking out for backyard barbecues, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Don Christianson; his sisters, Sharon Schupp and Jennett Williams.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosa Mabbitt; his children, Peggy Smart, Clarence Mabbitt II and wife, Bendi, Connie Haskins and fiancé, Steve Malley, Joes Eugeneio, Max Enio, Angel Priscilla and Benjamin Gonio; his brother, Ray Maybbitt and wife, Melody; his 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who all will dearly miss him.
