Charline Brown

March 5, 1928 — July 5, 2025

Amarillo

Charline Brown, 97, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Funeral services are scheduled for 10am, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Jubilee Apostolic Church.

Charline Brown was born on March 5, 1928, in Quanah, Texas, to Joe Walsh and Nettie Mae Daniel. She attended Allison High School and went on to build a life rooted in faith, family, and love. Charline met Warren Brown when she was a young girl and he was seven years older than her. Warren told Charline that he was going to marry her some day and humorously, her response was “I wouldn’t marry you if you were the last person on earth.” After some time had passed and Warren returned home from the war, him and Charline sealed their love with a kiss and were married on December 31, 1945. Although Warren didn’t start out as the love of her life, together they shared nearly 70 years of devoted marriage, a testament to their enduring bond.

A loving and dedicated mother, Charline cherished her three children and found deep joy in caring for them. She had a passion for travel, especially to the mountains, where she found peace and beauty in nature.

Charline began each day with her Bible, drawing strength and guidance from her faith. She was a faithful member of Jubilee Apostolic Church and lived her life with grace, humility, and devotion.

A talented cook and baker, Charline expressed her love through the meals she made, especially her famous pies, which became beloved traditions for birthdays and holidays. She delighted in preparing sweet treats for her grandchildren, calling them “a little party,” and her generosity extended beyond the kitchen—her grandchildren knew they could always count on her for a kind word, a warm smile, and her they could count on her to float them a loan, though I doubt they ever paid her back.

Charline adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in spending time with them—whether playing games, cards, or simply sharing stories. Though quiet and strong, she had a gentle, welcoming spirit. Anyone who entered her home was met with warmth and hospitality and always sent off with her signature phrase “Come back anytime.”

Charline’s legacy is one of love, faith, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Charline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Brown; her sons, Terry Allen Brown and Ronald Wayne Brown; her sisters, Mildred Johnson, Jean Stinnett and Betty Brown and her granddaughter, Shanna Brown.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra McLean and her grandchildren, Tim Brown, Scott Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Dustin Brown, John McLean and her eight great-grandchildren.
