Charles Ray Martin

March 24, 1939 — January 25, 2024

Charles was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, on March 24, 1939, to C.E. and Iva Pearl Martin. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1958 and married June on November 9, 1963. Together they raised five children. As a couple they enjoyed gardening, traveling to their cabin in Red River, and trips to West Virginia to see June’s parents. Charles spent most of his life as a meat cutter and owner of The Country Meat Market in Pleasant Valley. Later, when he retired, he continued to garden, do crafty woodworking, and make hot sauces. He loved people and especially little children, so his role as Santa was much enjoyed for many years. He attended Second Baptist Church with his friends.

He is survived by his children, Mike and Kim Vest of Amarillo, Tori and Keith Holloway of Amarillo, Tony and Sheryl Martin of Wimberley, Texas. Survivors also include, Lisa and James Beach of Delaware, Ohio, and Kim and Jeff Iseral of Amarillo, along with 15 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to

Second Baptist Church of Amarillo, 419 N. Buchanan, 79107.
