Cecilia "Jenny" Edna Virden

June 24, 1939 — June 18, 2025

Amarillo, Texas

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Cecilia (Jenny) Edna Virden. Born on June 24, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Mary and Andrew Wyczawski. Jenny lost her father early in life and was lovingly raised in Walnut Creek, California, by her mother and Father, Mary and Gordon Hood.

In 1956, Jenny met her husband, Joe, on a blind date. They married shortly after and shared 56 years together. Throughout their life together, they owned and operated several businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area, eventually relocating to Amarillo, Texas, where they ran their final business, Virden Perma Bilt Co.

Jenny was beautiful inside and out. She had a loving, kind, gentle and easy personality with a great smile. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved and cared for deeply. Her unwavering devotion continues to inspire all of us who were lucky to be loved by her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, her brother Frank Wyczawski and brother-in-law George Brown. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Audrey Davis husband Tony and Terry Harris Husband Gary; her cherished granddaughters, Erin McCarty husband Kenny and Wendy Loya husband Tony; and her adored great-grandchildren, Logan Canada, Hunter McCarty, Maci McCarty and Noah Loya. In addition, her extended family, Ocean and Reid Korczynski, Savanna and Liana Davis, with who she enjoyed spending time with during her many trips to Florida. She also leaves behind her four beloved sisters: Andrea, Gordena, Loulene, Mary and her sister-in-law Carolyn Brown, along with numerous nieces, nephews too many to name, but all deeply loved.

Jenny was a long-time member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Karla and the entire team at BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their compassionate care in her final days.

Jenny’s love, kindness, and strength will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
