Cathy Jo Melton

Cathy Jo Melton, 61, of Amarillo passed from this life on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 In LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Bo Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.

Cathy Jo was born December 21, 1956 in Castro Valley, California to George and Barbara Melton. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1975. Cathy attended Amarillo College where she received a Degree in Radiography. She worked as a radiologic technologist at BSA Hospital, where she was the first technologist to do a MRI scan in Amarillo, Family Osteopathic Hospital and in the medical department at Pantex. She was a true cowgirl at heart where she loved riding horses and going to the horse races. Cathy would travel to the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and Preakness Stakes to watch the races. She was a partial owner of a race horse named "TLC's Affair." She enjoyed spending time with family and friends during the holidays, BBQ's and watching her boyfriend, Larry play the steel guitar in his band.

She was preceded in death by her father, George B. Melton.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Trevor Carver and Trey Carver and his wife, Courtney Carver; her mother, Barbara Melton; boyfriend, Larry Hamilton; brother, Keith Melton and wife, Phelicia Melton; sister Connie Melton; five grandchildren, Olivia Carver, Joah Carver, Kandence Tunnell, Kyler Tunnell, Ivey Carver; nephew, Logan Melton and wife Ashley Melton and nieces, Brooke Melton, Rylee Melton and Aspen Melton.

The family would like to ask in lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to BSA Hospice of the Southwest so other families may receive the wonderful care that Cathy received.

Viewing will begin Tuesday at 9:00 am at the funeral home.
