John David Van Dyck Sr, 75, of Amarillo died on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Burial will be in the Lazbuddie cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

John was born on August 25, 1941 in Muleshoe to B.H. and Kathryn Jo Van Dyck. He graduated from Muleshoe High School. John was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He stepped up and took care of a family that at the time was in need of a miracle. He was hard on us at times, but we were the better for it. He was known as "Daddy" and to the grandchildren and great grandchildren he was known as "Papa John" and was proud to be each and everyone's Papa.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Julia Van Dyck and Barbara Rose; three sisters, Mary Webb, Judy Morin and Sally Patricia Van Dyck; one brother, Joe Paul Van Dyck and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by four daughters, Joy Davis Radford, Evelyn "Dolly" Brown-Kasher and husband Michael, Mary McKenzie, Kathy Van Dyck and husband Rex Lanning; four sons, John Davis and wife Jeri, John Van Dyck Jr. and wife Christy, Herman "Butch" Williams and Kirby "Sonny" White; one sister, Barbara Pitts and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, Monday, July 31, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.
